Residents of Laconia Housing’s Sunrise Towers held a fundraiser for victims of Hurricane Harvey this week. Residents collected clothing and personal items and enough money to purchase 28 cases of water. Vista Foods across the street from Sunrise Towers sold the bottled water at a discount in order to stretch the residents’ donations even further. Kim Smith, Laconia Housing Resident Services Coordinator, delivered the donated goods to Mike Currier in Franklin who was providing a tractor trailer truck to transport these other local donations to the Houston, TX, area. The Sunrise Towers residents also provided the truck driver a $40 gift certificate in order for him to purchase food on his ride down.
