HOUSING
Laconia Housing provides subsidized housing opportunities using federal government programs at properties we own and manage (Sunrise House, Sunrise Towers, Perley Pond Townhouses, Perley Pond II Apartments, Orchard Hill II and Northfield Village) and through partnerships (Tavern Inn/Stafford House, Normandin Square, 13 Summer Street, Sunrise Place) and by the administration of Housing Choice Vouchers (formerly Section 8). We offer modern, affordable housing to many in our community from the elderly to low-income families.
The Housing Choice Voucher / Section 8 program provides assistance for low-income families in the private rental market through housing assistance payments. Voucher holders select a unit from the private rental market (local landlords). Program participants normally pay no more than 30% of monthly adjustment income towards rent and utilities. The housing assistance payment subsidizes the balance of the rent to the property owner/landlord.
Family Self Sufficiency (FSS) is a program that encourages families who currently have a Housing Choice Voucher to work toward attaining economic independence and self-sufficiency. Laconia Housing connects families with agencies, schools and businesses to develop skills and work experience. Families who are interested in learning more about this program and the commitment requirements should contact Laconia Housing's Choice Voucher/Section 8 Dept.
