HOUSING VOUCHERS

Public Notice of Proposed Changes to Laconia Housing’s Housing Choice Voucher (HCV) Administrative Plan

Laconia  Housing is pleased to announce the availability of our draft administrative plan for the Housing Choice Voucher Program. We invite all interested community members to review the plan on our website here.

Please Check out HUD resource page on HCV for Tenants: https://www.hud.gov/hcv/tenants

The Housing Choice Voucher program (formerly known as Section 8), provides assistance for low-income families in the private rental market through housing assistance payments. Program participants normally pay between 30 and 40 percent of monthly adjusted income toward rent. The housing assistance payment subsidizes the balance of the rent to the owner/landlord.

Laconia Housing works with several local landlords and Property Management Companies in Belknap County. Prior to receiving voucher assistance on a unit, the unit must pass a Housing Quality Standard inspection, which deems the unit a safe place to live. Laconia Housing currently manages more than 400 Housing Choice Vouchers in the Laconia area, investing more than $2.5 million back into the community.

Laconia Housing also works with families through the Family Self Sufficiency Program, which encourages Housing Choice Voucher holders to work toward economic independence and self-sufficiency. Families who are interested in learning more about this program and the commitment requirements should contact Laconia Housing’s Housing Choice Voucher Department.
