Located in the heart of downtown, Laconia Housing Authority (LHA) is an organization that provides subsidized housing opportunities utilizing federal government programs at properties owned/managed by LHA (Sunrise Towers, Blueberry Place, Orchard Hill II and Northfield Village) and through partnerships (Tavern Inn/Stafford House and Normandin Square) and by the administration of Housing Choice Vouchers (formerly Section 8).

At select properties, LHA provides direct support services (meals, housekeeping, laundry, transportation, personal care) enabling tenants to remain in their homes even if a little assistance is needed.

LHA also serves our community through various outreaches, such as the United Way, ringing the bell for the Salvation Army, and the Turkey Plunge (which benefits the Salvation Army/Carey House; homeless shelter).

HCV Program Housing Specialist Wanted

Laconia Housing Authority (LHA) is seeking to fill the position of Housing Choice Voucher (HCV) Program Housing Specialist. The position is responsible for the daily operation of an assigned portfolio of Housing Choice Vouchers (formerly known as Section 8). The ability to read, interpret, and apply federal regulations is essential. Strong customer service skills are a must as well as basic computer literacy.

LHA administers over 400 Housing Choice Vouchers under a contract with the federal Department of Housing and Urban Development. The HCV Program Housing Specialist works with participating tenants and landlords to insure compliance with program regulations.

Qualified candidates will have at a minimum a high school diploma or GED and one to two years of office experience related to affordable housing or serving the needs of lower income residents. The rate of pay ranges from $13.25 to $20.50 per hour (35 hour work week) based on qualifications and experience. LHA offers a generous benefit package including health insurance and retirement plan.

Chief Operating Officer Sought

Laconia Housing Authority (LHA) is seeking to fill the position of Deputy Executive Director, Chief Operating Officer. The position is responsible for the oversight of the programmatic operations of LHA as well as acting in support of the Executive Director and the strategic planning of the agency.

LHA is responsible for occupancy, program compliance, and maintenance of 311 units of housing funded through HUD’s public housing and Section 8 programs, Rural Development’s 515 program, and Low Income Housing Tax Credits. In addition, LHA administers 407 Housing Choice Vouchers. LHA also operates an extensive supportive services program that includes resident services, home health care, housekeeping, and daily meals.

Qualified candidates will have a Bachelor Degree in Business Administration, Public Administration, Human Services or related field and a minimum of five years of working experience in a public housing authority or other entity administering federal housing funds. Extensive knowledge of the regulatory requirements of various affordable housing funding sources must be demonstrated. Experience with the operation and funding of supportive service programs is a plus. Annual salary will be commensurate with knowledge and experience.
